Introduction to Using Herbs in Recipes

Herbs have been used in cooking and preparing food since ancient times.

They add flavour to food and can make healthy foods taste better.  Herbs have been used in cooking in countries around the world.

Various spice mixes such as Chinese 5 Spice, Herbs de Provence,  Italian blend and seasoning salts make it easy to make foods delicious.

When you have a herbal or spice blend available or know how to add herbs and spices in the right amounts to food, it can make simple foods taste heavenly.

In this section, we give you the spice blends, how to use them and recipes that are healthy and nutritious.  Most of the recipes adhere to a strict criteria.

Most are suitable for vegetarians as they are dairy and meat free. (Some will have fish and eggs).

The recipes will be low in sugar or have no sugar. They are wheat free or will include wheat alternatives such as spelt and kamut.

In addition to recipes, you will also get menus and shopping lists to make your life easier as well as how to make herbal vinegars, butters and oils.
