What I received Leslie Kleiman’s book in the mail with the title ‘Who Said it Has to Be Hard?’  I was intrigued.

My point exactly, I thought.  I grew up, as many people of my generation did, with the protestant work ethic crammed down my throat.  “You have to work hard!,’ my dad would always exclaim, with extra emphasis on the word ‘hard.’

So this was not lost on me.  In Leslie’s book, compiled from a blog she started in the late summer of 2009, she chronicles what ‘hard’ has meant to her and gives new resources to utilize.

She also chronicles how becoming good at ‘hard’ made her neurotic, often unhappy, fearful or anxious and how this is a belief system for many of us, ‘not even a rite of passage.’

While this is not a book about herbs or natural health,  the belief system Leslie talks about has a great impact on our health.

How many of us believe that ‘life is hard and then we basically die.’  This is a stoic outlook on life that just makes things harder for us.  Because we really don’t want to die, even if we believe life is hard, notes Leslie.

“We get terrible eviscerating diseases for which we subject ourselves to terrible eviscerating ‘cures,’ states Leslie in one chapter.  “Fighting death all the way.   Many of us get old and ill and infirm but still want to live as long as possible.”

In future chapters Leslie goes on to talk about choosing whether life is hard, experiencing gratitude and the power of intention. That power is about shifting our ‘stuff,’  working through fear, learning to let go and the power of new creation.

How everyone has a purpose to live from love and passion, and to learn to manifest from the opposite of hard.

This is really a book about self-discovery and awareness. It’s an easy and often entertaining read, as the reader will experience new insights and ‘aha’ moments.
Learn from the book and how to apply it to your life.
Here’s to you Leslie!
