While we don’t think of herbal mood boosters as being important for weight loss, it can certainly make a big differencehelp.
During a weight loss program there can be a tendency to feel depressed, particularly if the weight loss is cylical.
Because weight loss and depression often go hand in hand, it can be difficult for an overweight person to fight. Depression can be linked to low levels of serotonin, so getting enough serotonin in the diet or supplements is very important. Foods like tuna, salmon, kidney beans, chickpeas, chicken, lentils, sunflower seeds, walnuts, Tahini (sesame butter), avocado, almond butter and rolled oats can all help to raise serotonin levels.
Besides diet, certain herbs like St. John’s Wort and Gingko Biloba can help to reduce depression during a weight loss program.
